Review: LA Witch – Self Titled Album

LA Witch albumLA Witch mix shoe gaze with punk, early nineties alternative rock with a sprinkling of sixties psychedelia. Add to that, some rather spooky vocals. A three piece; LA Witch really do have something pretty special. They aren’t just your riot grrrls from Los Angeles. Ellie is certainly a powerhouse on the drums, Irita channels a Geezer Butler style bass sound and Sade’s vocals and dirty reverbed guitar tickles your spinal cord; these ladies are the real deal. Their self-titled debut, released earlier this year, includes three rather hypnotising tracks; Get Lost, Heart of Darkness and You Love Nothing. These witches have been out and about promoting themselves in the best way possible; DIY baby. Their approach to doing everything themselves is definitely something we love about them. Get yourself to their bandcamp page and have a listen. I promise you shall fall under their spell.
